Luyao Xu has been awarded the UCLA EE Department “Distinguished PhD Dissertation Award in Physical & Wave Electronics” for 2016-17. Congratulations! Her thesis reported the first realization of a metasurface laser and: the quantum-cascade metasurface THz VECSEL (vertical external cavity surface emitting laser).
