Mohammad Shahili was awarded the “Best Paper Award” at the 2023 Infrared Terahertz Quantum Workshop (ITQW) in Erice, Italy for his presentation on “GaAs-based Quantum Cascade Laser Emitting above 5 THz”, with the authors Mohammad Shahili, Sadhvikas J. Addamane, Christopher A. Curwen, Jonathan H. Kawamura, Benjamin S. Williams. This work is a collaboration between our group at UCLA, Sandia National Labs CINT, and JPL, and is partially funded by NASA with the goal of developing next generation terahertz local oscillators for study of the atomic species in the star forming regions of the interstellar medium which emit radiation in the 5-6 THz range.
A paper based on this presentation has been published in the journal Nanophotonics.
